Tag (2018) - ⅗ Stars

This movie is based on a true story of friends who play an elaborate game of tag for one month of every year. One member of the group has never been tagged and his friends are determined to get him, even if it means crashing his wedding. The hilarious cast includes Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Isla Fisher, Rashida Jones, Hannibal Buress, Jon Hamm, and Jeremy Renner. The hijinks are amusing and while Tag is a cute film, it’s nothing special. Reviews were mostly average and I’d have to agree. This movie could fill an evening pleasantly but don’t go out of your way to watch it.

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) - 4.5/5 Stars

“You can be much more alone with other people than you are by yourself.” This movie stars Gene Tierney as Lucy Muir, a young widow who moves to a coastal village despite the disapproval of her in-laws. The charming house she rents is said to be haunted by a sailor and the spirit of Captain Daniel Gregg, played by Rex Harrison, soon appears to Lucy. The captain does not appear to be pleased with Lucy’s presence in his earthly home. Can the two of them figure out a way to exist together despite Captain Gregg’s ghostly state? I really loved this movie and I hate to admit it but I definitely cried. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir has a compelling and unique plotline, balancing romantic and bittersweet but also amusement and charm. Not for everyone but fans of older movies and romance would love this movie.
