The first ever Food and Flicks was a success! We enjoyed a Cool Runnings themed tasting menu during an outdoor screening of the film.

Tasting Menu:

Cool Rummings Punch

John Candy-ed Bacon

Cheeses of the World

Jamaican Me Crazy Spritzer

Rasta Pasta with Jerk Chicken Meatballs

Olympic Torch Cocktail

Feel the Rhythm, Feel the Lime (key lime pie)

Cool Runnings (1993) - 4/5 Stars

The comical and heartwarming story of the first Jamaican bobsled team is loosely based on the true story of the team’s first appearance in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Canada. After failing to qualify for the 100m track event for summer, Derice Bannock is determined to get to the Olympics in any way possible. After hearing the idea that sprinters may be good as bobsledders, Derice decides to find a team, a coach, funding, and also snow and ice (not an easy task in Jamaica). Some plot points were embellished for the film, but it is still filled with laughs, disappointment, triumphs, and inspiration to overcome obstacles. The message is that winning isn’t everything; it is determination and sportsmanship that define great athletes.

Got any ideas for suggestions for the next Food and Flicks! Comment or send me a message.
